Remember Me

HISTORY:

FeedAC was originally established in August 2003 as the Ruminant Feed Analysis Consortium (RFAC) with the financial support of 17 Founding Sponsors ($170,000). The first official meeting of the consortium was held October 20, 2003, in conjunction with the Cornell Nutrition Conference. The purpose of the meeting was to bring together the Founding Sponsors, as well as some researchers and feed analysts, to begin to develop the vision and organizational structure of the consortium.

Since that first meeting, significant strides have been made to enhance the overall vision, scope, and organizational structure of the consortium. The organization is no longer a university-based industrial consortium with a single primary investigator, but instead has a Board of Directors. The administrative services of FASS have been garnered, and the term “ruminant” has been removed from the incorporated name. These changes reflect the need for a North American Feed Information System that serves all animal industries and provides for bringing together all of the interests and expertise that exist in the area of feed analysis and measurement of nutrient bioavailability.
